The Hong Kong Neuro-Oncology Society, a nonprofit multi-disciplinary organization, was formed in 2011 by the concerted effort of a group of neurosurgeons, radiologists, oncologists and pathologists working in the public and private sectors because we want to improve the standard of care and well-being of patients suffering from tumours of the nervous system in Hong Kong. Tumours of the nervous system are relatively uncommon tumours, the public may not be fully aware of these tumours and the hardships these patients suffer. Being tumours affecting the important organs of the brain or spine, these tumours can inflict severe symptoms and functional deficits to the patients, producing great burdens on the patients, their families and the community. The Society is committed to improve treatment and care, promote education and exchange of knowledge in the field of tumours of the nervous system through holding academic meetings and research collaborations in Hong Kong and overseas, enhancing public awareness of these tumours with public campaign, education and patient activities. The membership of the Hong Kong Neuro-Oncology
Society is open to all doctors, nurses and other health care workers involved
in the care of patients of nervous system tumours. Doctors can become full
members, nurses and allied health workers can become associate members. No
membership fee is required. HK Neuro-Oncology Society AGM Annual Scientific Meeting 2014 |
